| Organic: ila products use only essential oils and vegetable oils that are organically certified by accredited organisations such as the Soil Association and ECOCERT with the exception of our rose otto and hydrodistilled jasmine oils. We are currently applying to become an ECOCERT certified company. We also use raw ingredients that we have sourced directly from local communities who use traditional farming and processing methods. They do not use chemicals or intensive farming techniques. Where they harvest from the wild, their harvesting practices are intrinsically sustainable, often utilising tools and methods that have been used in the local communities for generations.
Processing: Our organically certified essential oils are steam distilled rather than using chemical distillation. These powerful oils are used in the optimum amount in each formulation to provide maximum benefit. Our vegetable oils are cold pressed, which retains all the natural goodness of each oil. ila products contain beneficial aloe vera juice instead of water wherever possible. Our aloe vera juice is produced using a spray drying method (instead of chemical extraction) which allows the beneficial properties of the plant to be retained.
Animal Friendly: ila has never and will never test on animals and does not use any raw ingredients that have been tested on animals. None of our ingredients are of animal origin except beeswax and royal jelly. All ila products are suitable for vegetarians.
No chemicals: ila products contain no artificial additives or synthetic chemicals, enhancers or stabilisers. We believe an orange is best eaten fresh, and we apply the same philosophy to our products. Our natural ingredients are effective because they are exceptionally pure. At the same time, they conform to the highest standards of laboratory testing and analysis to ensure safety. Our approach blends ancient wisdom and knowledge and modern scientific research and techniques to ensure the efficacy of each ila skincare product.
Natural Preservatives: All ila preservation systems are naturally derived and based on aniseed, cinnamon and balsam. By using only natural preservatives, we ensure that the beneficial effects of the natural ingredients are not compromised by synthetic preservation systems. ila products do have a shorter shelf life (12 months unopened and 6 months once opened if used correctly with lids firmly replaced after use) than luxury skincare products which use artificial means to offer durability. However, by using natural preservative systems, we avoid any possible health risk from artificial preservatives.
Patch Testing and Allergies: All ila skincare products are formulated to be extremely gentle and are used by many people with sensitive skin. Nevertheless, we do recommend a patch test is carried out at least 24 hours before first application for your peace of mind. The easiest place to patch test is the inside of the elbow.
We note that many of our products use nut derived oils such as argan oils and therefore may not be suitable for those with nut allergies. |
